Beautiful, square Thai seat cushion in a traditional Thai design with kapok filling. Kapok (Malay), also known as plant down, is the fiber of the kapok tree (Ceiba pentandra). It comes from the 1.5- to 4-cm-long fibers of the fruit of this tree, which grows in the tropics. The fibers have a fine waxy coating, which, on the one hand, makes them unsuitable for spinning but, on the other hand, has the advantage of making them water-repellent. They are therefore often used as mattress filling.
